Furbo Dog Camera – throws treats!

For those of you who have a dog with anxiety problems, especially when left in the home alone, the Furbo Dog Camera can really help and is now on the market!  Here is a great way of keeping in touch with your dog, from an app on your mobile. Buy from Amazon!

Has your dog got separation anxiety?

Separation anxiety is a real problem for some dog owners. It can put a dampener on having to leave your pooch alone for a while. He gets upset and you get upset and can’t enjoy yourself because you’re worrying about how he is coping.

Does he express his anxiety with destructive tendencies?

What’s more, he could be expressing his anxiety by tearing up the furniture or doing whoopsies around the house. He may bark and howl all the time you’re out. If you have neighbours, it can be a real problem for them too!

What about the neighbours?

The whole separation anxiety thing is a worry for you and an unpleasant experience for your dog, that’s without the problem you may with your neighbours. Dog barking is one of the most common reasons that neighbours fall out. Also, those renting can come to grief with complaints to the landlord about the noise. You can actually be evicted if the problem is not sorted.

Employ a dog behaviourist

But, the most important consideration is your dog’s anxiety problem which is not good for his health. Separation anxiety is something that should be eradicated as quickly as possible. Getting the support of a certified dog behaviourist is your best bet. But this issue can take some time to extinguish but while your are working on your dog’s problem, you can incorporate this little gadget into his training regime.

The things us owners do

We will go to extreme lengths to make sure our best friend is entertained whilst we’re out. Toys stuffed with goodies, treat hidden to be found when you’ve gone. We always turn on the radio or TV. Classical music is said to be soothing for the anxious pooch. Our dogs certainly do like certain kinds of music, not least me trying to play my keyboard. Why they like it I don’t know because I often make quite a row!

Furbo Dog CameraHere comes some help!

Enter the Furbo Dog Camera. This little camera has the facility enabling you to check in on your dog when you’re out. It has a number of pet friendly features including a companion app which you can download.

Talk to Fido!

You can talk to your pooch and watch it live. Toss him a treat. If you have the Premium account, you can also take and save video footage, set barking alerts and take pet selfies. Another benefit is it keeps an eye open on who’s coming and going. Point the camera toward the front door.

Gorgeous looking unit

The camera is a very good looking unit, just under 9 inches in height. It is white with a smooth surface and fits in well with the modern home. It does need to be placed well, especially if you want to see who comes in and out of the front door. If you have a boisterous dog, you need to make sure he can see it but at the same time not get at it or pull it down. It needs to be near a plug outlet and have a good WiFi signal.

Furbo Dog CameraDate protection encryption

Many people are very nervous about devices such as these giving out data. So it is good to know that this camera is secure using 2048-bit RSA private-key encryption. Footage is deleted from the cloud and the app every night at midnight. You can also turn the camera off completely by going into the Furbo settings.

Easy setup

Setup is easy. Just plug it in and wait for the light to turn green. If it’s yellow, it means it’s on standby and purple indicates the WiFi connection has dropped out. Once the Furbo is on you can download the companion app to follow instructions.

Training video for your dog

The app has a training video to teach you how to train your dog to respond to the Furbo. But it doesn’t take long for Fido to learn that treats come out of it! The treats are flung 8 or 9 feet which is quite a long way! You may find your dog sits in front of it for quite a while. Dogs seem to be quite willing to wait until it tosses their treat.

Furbo Dog Camera
For hospital workers with dogs at home.
Sturdy unit

Some dogs can get quite excited when they hear their owner talking to them and may even jump up at the camera. But this unit is quite sturdy and spill proof so if an over enthusiastic dog knocks it over, there’s no harm done.

Hospital Workers

There are many hospital workers who are having to leave their dogs at home while they work long hours saving lives, whilst risking their own.  This would be an ideal tool to help with their stress and calm those dogs that are being left for long periods of time.

So let’s look at the pros and cons of this unit:
Pros:
  • Easy to set up
  • Sophisticated app iOS or Android
  • High level of security for data protection.
  • The Furbo keeps a timeline of the day’s events.
  • Push notifications are sent when detecting, dog moving, dog barking, other movement.
  • Automatically takes a picture of your dog when he looks into the camera… so sweet!
  • Has a selfie feature which can be really funny!
  • 2-way-chat – talk to your dog and calm him down
  • Barking alert when your dog barks.
  • Full HD Camera and Night Vision can be set to 360p, 720p, or 1080p.
  • Ability to record your own voice for training.
  • Good looking and fits into modern decor.
  • Check in on your pet from wherever you are.
  • Talk to your pet from wherever you are.
  • Toss a treat to your pet from wherever you are.
  • Saves video footage.

  • Treats container is spill proof.
  • App comes with training video

Furbo Dog Camera

Cons:
  • Camera cannot pan, so needs to be placed carefully.
  • The app controls the camera. You can’t log in online or turn it on or off without the app.
  • Only small treats fit in the tosser. Recommended size is less than O.4 inches diameter. Just as well, your dog could put on weight! The app links directly to suggested treats on Amazon.
  • Has to be plugged in.
I will give this sophisticated, smart, good looking camera 9/10 marks.  Please see the right sidebar and click the Furbo Dog Camera image to get more information from Amazon or click here

As someone with a very anxious dog that has destroyed more than her share of my belongings, furniture, barked, etc.  I feel bad when I leave and a lot of my life has been dictated by my concern for this dog.  The furbo looks like an answer to my prayers! A way to check in, give her treats, and even let her hear my voice? I had no idea how much this thing did!

Hi John, I’m sorry to hear you have an anxious dog with obvious seperation anxiety. It does stress us owners out when we know our canine friends are upset. The Furbo is a tad expensive but it is worth it in my mind. If you do buy one, let me know how you get on so I can relay it to other dog owners. Good luck!

Wow this device is really cool. It’s such a pleasant way to keep your dog in touch whey you’re out. I think I might just get one my dog. It sometimes experiences this anxiety issues and then becomes very restless, destroying whatever he can find around. I hope this device really gets to help because I get frustrated when it’s restless.

It is a cool device Philebur and quite a boon for those dogs that are on their own a lot. The trouble is, it’s not only the dog that suffers, owners are anxious too and it detracts from their working day worrying about their pooch. It seems your dog has got separation anxiety and I’m shortly doing an article on what can be done to alleviate this problem. Good luck to you and your dog!

Hi there. While I have never actually owned a dog before, this is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. The idea of a small robot throwing treats for the dog is perfect to keep it entertained while away. I didn’t know separation anxiety was so common amongst dogs and I will recommend this product to friends of mine that own dogs.

Hi Rashaad and thanks for your comment. Yes, it is cool isn’t it.  Because separation anxiety is on the rise, owners need all the help they can get to alleviate this problem. It is stressful for the dog and for the owner. There’s so many dogs now that are bred under unsuitable conditions like puppy farms.

Unsuspecting owners will invariably find their new pup is needy, fearful and with separation anxiety issues, often resulting in destruction of beds, furniture and other goods when left alone. These are common side effect from a pup which has been brought up without socialisation or habituation, by breeders who are in it just for the money. I will be writing an article on separation anxiety with some tips on how to eliminate this disorder.

I’ve always thought it’s mostly babies that needs cameras to watch them. However, this post has been an eye opener and I’ve come to realize that it cameras could also come in handy when taking care of our furry friends. I have a little chihuahua, Nancy, and I’ll look to get one of this cameras to watch over her better.

Hi there Maestro, Chihuahua’s are such characters aren’t they, and very intelligent! I’m sure Nancy will be very pleased to hear your voice and be thrown a treat, even when you’re not there!

Hi Ches! I am a big dog lover and one of my dogs had to deal with a sort of anxiety a few months back (I adopted them from a rescue shelter and they said he had a very hard life before). Anyway, I heard about this sort of cameras before but at that point I could not afford one. And as far as I know, the Furbo wasn’t available then. Luckily, my dog managed to get rid of his anxiety slowly and his 2 brothers helped a lot (especially when I was gone and there was no one else in the house). But even so, I guess having had this Furbo camera would have helped a lot more. So despite not having tested it out myself, it’s the kind of product I would really recommend. It has enough reviews behind, so these are the best proof that it works!

Yes Ashley, the Furbo has not long been on the market. It is a tad expensive, but well worth it I think, especially as not only pooches get the benefit, but owners too, who will be less stressed when having to leave their dogs for a while. Being able to see your dogs in the home, talk to them and throw then treats keeps you calm and well as them! I am glad you would recommend the camera, perhaps to a friend or family member who has a dog with anxiety problems when left alone.
