Breeds

In the 1800s there were just 15 ‘pure’ breeds in existence. Now there are over 400, some of which have been changed physically and mentally to the detriment of the dogs’ short lives. Dogs such as the Sharpei and the short nosed Pugs and Bulldogs. I personally think these dogs that are bred to be unhealthy should now be bred to remove these detrimental defects. Afterall, it’s the animal that has to suffer the consequences not the humans who have done the deeds. It’s time the dog breeding world started making changes to their breeding programs. It’s time the breeding fraternity worked towards our dogs’ health and welfare rather than breeding for human gratification.
